London Underground ticket machine

London Underground has recently released touchscreen ticket machines, which were originally developed for the Jubilee Line Extension but are now used in all stations.

my role: interaction designer. I designed an adaptable flow sequence and grid-based screen interaction so that future ticket types and stations could be easily added. Designed in 1994, and released across the network in 2000, the screens have undergone a lot of graphic and content changes beyond my input, but the basic order of the sequence, the screen grids, and colour signalling remain the same.
